back in the days, dean had the tendency to always forget his towel in his duffle. mid-shower he’d remember where his elusive towel was, thus he yelled for his towel, “SAM! Get me a towel!” sam would roll his eyes, mutter under his breath and throw dean a fresh towel, or possibly his own. 

and even after all these years, in a world where sam and dean are hardly themselves. dean still forgets the towel and sam leaves it there for him.
